Anton Joins Tour As Guest Judge

Anton du Beke is joining the Strictly Come Dancing tour as a guest judge for four dates.

Anton will join Craig Revel Horwood, Camilla Dallerup and Tom Chambers in Liverpool on 3rd & 4th February and at Wembley on 5th & 6th February.

Anton said“I am hugely excited by the opportunity to step behind the judges’ desk and give my help and advice to the celebrities and professional dancers on the tour, when the show is in Liverpool and in London.”

This is good news for me, as I am seeing the show at Wembley.

This is the first time ever that Anton has been a part of the tour, as he and Erin always tour at the same time. Tour dates for Anton & Erin's new show That's Entertainment can be found here.

Rachel Learnt Tour Routines In Six Days

Rachel Stevens, who has stepped at the eleventh hour in for pregnant Frankie Bridge on the Strictly Come Dancing tour, has learnt all the routines in six days.

Her tour partner Kevin Clifton told the Daily Express: "It's really great news for Frankie that she's pregnant again, but I didn't know if I was going to be on the tour or not about a week ago. Rachel stepped in to save the day. She's learnt seven dances in seven days! Well, six days actually. She's been brilliant and I've been really lucky that I got Rachel as my last minute replacement because I don't know how it would've worked out. Rachel's really good!"

Brendan: "Hopefully They'll Want Me Back Next Year"

Brendan Cole hopes to return to Strictly Come Dancing, because he can't imagine not being a part of the show.

Brendan, who has been with the show since the first series in 2004, told TV3: ''I'm sure one day the shoes will have to be hung up, whether it's because I don't want to be there or they don't want me. I love Strictly and it's a massive part of my life - I can't quite imagine it not being there. It's been over a quarter of my life so far. That's a big chunk of time. I'm very comfortable with it at the moment and hopefully they'll want me back next year.''

Eamonn & Ruth Wanted For Strictly

Strictly Come Dancing bosses are keen to sign This Morning presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford up for the next series. But despite being a fan of the show, Eamonn doesn't want to do it and has already turned it down.

A source told the Daily Mirror“They are hugely popular with viewers. Watching them bickering and competing against each other would be TV gold. We’re hoping Ruth will work on Eamonn and persuade him. But so far he’s digging his heels in.”

This Morning reporter and Strictly star Alison Hammond confirmed the rumour, telling the paper: “Ruth really wants to do Strictly - and I really hope they get her, because she’d be brilliant. They have asked Eamonn to do it a few times - and he’s said no. I didn’t think I knew a celebrity who wouldn’t want to do it."

A Gift For 'Tam'

Iveta has been showing her appreciation for Tom Evans head of the tour with a gift.

The Daily Mail spotted Iveta carrying the mystery framed gift in Birmingham, with a message on the back for all to see which read: "Tam, you were amazing partner [sic]! Loved dancing with you! It was short but sweet experience [sic]. Loved every minute of it! And you are a great dancer! All the best in your future! Love and kisses. xxx Your partner, Iveta."

Tom and Iveta will be reunited on the Strictly tour, which opens this weekend in Birmingham.

People's Strictly Pros Announced

The BBC has now officially announced the six professional dancers who will be teaching members of the public to dance on The People's Strictly. They are:

Natalie Lowe
Aliona Vilani
Janette Manrara
Aljaž Skorjanez
Robin Windsor
Ian Waite

I think this is a great lineup. From what I have seen, Natalie is a brilliant and empathetic teacher, who will be able to adapt to any partner. It will be great to see Robin back after he missed out on the main series due to injury. And the return of Ian Waite to the floor is always going to be welcome.

Book Review: Strictly Inspirational

When I reviewed Bruno Tonioli's book, I wrote:

"I like to torture myself with autobiographies. I like to read about other people's journeys to the top, and ponder how my life could have been different if only I had the drive, and luck, that these people had."

Strictly Inspirational
In Camilla Dallerup's new book, Strictly Inspirational: How I Learnt How To Dream, Act, Believe & Succeed, Camilla mixes traditional autobiography with techniques on how to achieve your dreams, even if you might think the ship has already sailed.

Since leaving Strictly Come Dancing following her Series 6 win with Tom Chambers, Camilla has made a career as a motivational speaker and life coach, as well as starting an acting career.

For a Strictly fan like myself, I was most interested to read the autobiographical parts of the book. Camilla tells her story from her early days dancing in Denmark, to moving to London, establishing a partnership and relationship with Brendan Cole, her Strictly career and her life after Strictly. She talks openly about her painful breakup with Brendan, how her celebrity partners helped her through, and finally moving on and meeting her husband Kevin.

In parallel with telling her story, Camilla talks through various techniques for achieving your own life goals - or dreams - by acting to make them happen, and believing that they can be achieved.

Personally, I am a bit of a skeptic about life-coaching, and I wasn't sure if I would enjoy reading the book. There are a couple of exercises in the book, and I have to admit that I didn't do them. But Camilla's advice is pretty sensible, and more importantly, accessible. And as Camilla would suggest, what's the worst that can happen if you read a little life-coaching advice? You might unlock something inside yourself. And if you don't, you should enjoy reading Camilla's honest account of her life.

So, back now to my quote about Bruno's book. How could someone like me, with the responsibilities that a job, a mortgage and a husband bring, achieve the dreams that never went beyond wishful thinking?

Camilla's advice is simple: "It may well be too late to do exactly what you've dreamed about, but you can still find fulfillment doing something similar." She tells the story of a friend who dreamed of becoming a professional dancer, but felt it was too late. That friend went on to become a successful dance teacher.

I never became a professional dancer either. But I still dance every week, and often think about other dancing I want to return to (I guess it's time to act on that). And by watching Strictly and writing this blog, I get to talk about dancing all the time, too.

Strictly Inspirational: How I Learnt How To Dream, Act, Believe & Succeed by Camilla Sacre-Dallerup is published in hardback today by Watkins Publishing.

Ola Jordan's Career In Doubt

Ola Jordan's career as a dancer is in doubt, following knee surgery this week after she was injured while training for Channel 4 show The Jump.

Ola put a brave face on her injury earlier this week, tweeting from her hospital bed:

However, it's going to be a difficult road to recovery, and there is a chance Ola might not be able to dance any more.

A source told the Daily Mirror“It’s 50-50 she will dance again. It is terribly sad. Facing never being able to do it is incredibly tough for her.”

Rachel Stevens Joins The Tour

Rachel Stevens has signed up to replace the pregnant Frankie Bridge on the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing tour.

Rachel was runner-up in Strictly Series 6, and followed that immediately with the 2009 tour. She got her dancing shoes back on in the recent Christmas special, so is not that far removed from the show.

She said today: "It’s no secret that I loved my time in Strictly and that I’m a big fan of the dances so I’m excited to be back and to get my dancing shoes on again. Today, I’m straight into rehearsals learning the routines and meeting the guys and next week we’ll be on tour seeing fans across the country – I can’t wait!”

Frankie Bridge Pulls Out Of Strictly Tour

Frankie Bridge has had to pull out of the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing tour, because she is pregnant!

Frankie had had severe morning sickness, making her too ill to rehearse.

She tweeted yesterday:

Congratulations, Frankie!

A spokesperson for Stage Entertainment and Phil McIntyre Entertainments, producers of the Strictly tour, told MTV: "We completely respect Frankie's decision, a safe pregnancy is the priority. On behalf of the whole cast and crew, we send Frankie our love and very best wishes - we will miss her."

The People's Strictly For Comic Relief

The BBC have announced the first details about The People's Strictly For Comic Relief.

The pre-recorded show will run on Saturday nights for four weeks in the lead up to Red Nose Day, with the winner announced as part of the live telethon on Friday 13th March.

The lucky, and worthy, members of the public who will get to live the Strictly dream are:

Phillip Barnett, director of Kids R Us, a theatre charity for children, which has raised over £2m and staged 70 productions.

Trishna Bharadia, an MS sufferer, campaigner and award-winning volunteer.

Anna Kennedy OBE, founder of schools for autistic children, whose sons have the condition.

Cassidy Litte, a former medic for the Royal Marines who lost his leg in an IED explosion while working in Afghanistan.

Heather Parsons, founder of Where There's A Will, a charity offering support to ICU patients and their families which was founded following her own stay in intensive care.

Michael Pattie, a fundraiser for meningitis charities, who has raised over £300,000 following the death of his son to the disease.

The show will be presented by Tess and Claudia. The first two episodes will introduce the participants and their stories. The third will show how the participants have got on in training, and the final episode will show their performances for the judges. The judges will score the performances, but only for guidance. A public vote will decide the winner.

Details of the professionals taking part will be announced in the coming weeks. The first show will be broadcast on Saturday 14th February.

Sammy Winward: Strictly Off Air

Emmerdale actress Sammy Winward has admitted that she'd love to do Strictly, but only if it wasn't on TV.

UnrealityTV reports that Sammy told The Sun that she's been offered lots of reality shows in the past, but has always said no: "The thought of doing [a reality show] is terrifying. Too much stress and worrying about what people would say if I did something wrong. I've been approached to do a few shows but always turned them down. I would love to do Strictly if it wasn't filmed. I suppose my dancing background might help. I would love to go and learn all the steps but only if it wasn't filmed for TV.”

Get over yourself, love. You're in the public eye already. If you're worried about what people might say about you, you're probably in the wrong profession.

I reckon that viewers are actually a little kinder to the participants on a show like Strictly because they know that the performers are outside of their comfort zone, and are therefore more willing to cut them some slack.

Fearne Cotton Would Consider Strictly

DJ and presenter Fearne Cotton has revealed that she wouldn't mind going on Strictly Come Dancing, but she'd prefer to do it as a presenter.

She told The People: “Never say never. I’d love to do some dancing. I’d prefer to present it. I've danced since the age of four and thought I’d be a dancer."

After the flack that Caroline has endured (pun intended) at the hands of the press over her dancing past, anyone with so much as a childhood ballet lesson behind them might have to think long and hard about talking part in the show. Personally, I don't believe it should be a barrier to taking part, unless you have made a career as a dancer. Which pretty much only rules out Wayne Sleep. Even West End performers like Claire Sweeney and Denise van Outen have done it.

Vote For Strictly!

Once again, it's time for to vote for Strictly Come Dancing in the National Television Awards.

Strictly is nominated in the Talent Show category, alongside The X Factor, Britain's Got Talent and The Voice.

Brendan Cole: "I Do Think Before I Speak!"

No-one can fail to have noticed that Brendan Cole has mellowed since the start of his relationship with his wife Zoe. He has explained that this is a conscious decision on his part, and these days he chooses his battles very carefully.

The Daily Mirror reports that Brendan told the Press Association: “I was very outspoken in the past, but you change as you grow older and you become a bit more thoughtful and considered. Put it this way, nowadays I’m not afraid to be controversial if it’s necessary, but I do think before I speak! When you have the responsibility of being a husband and a father, it’s different. I never want to do anything to embarrass my wife or daughter, whereas in the old days, when I was single, there wasn't anybody to worry about upsetting. I don't want [my daughter] Aurelia looking back on footage or reports of me when she’s older and saying, ‘My dad’s an idiot!’ and I wouldn't want Zoe to be embarrassed about being married to a man who’s ranting and raving."

Mrs Robbie Williams For Strictly?

Strictly is over for another year, but that doesn't mean there will be no Strictly news. It's time for the rumour mill to start churning into action!

It seems that Robbie Williams' wife Ayda Field was approached last year but had to decline because of her pregnancy. Now that baby Charlton has arrived, it has been suggested that she might be asked to appear this year.

A source told the Daily Mail"Ayda was lined up for Strictly in early 2014 but had to back out after discovering she was pregnant. By the time the next series starts, her son will be 11 months."
