Alesha Wants To Perform
Alesha is reportedly annoyed that the BBC won't let her perform one of her tracks on Strictly.
The News of the World claims that Alesha wants more backing from the BBC and may not re-sign unless she gets it. A source told the paper: "She thought being on the show could catapult her into the top ten again. Just look what that sort of exposure did for Cheryl [Cole, who performed her single on the singing corner]. But Alesha really struggled in the charts because there wasn't even a mention of her single on Strictly. She's started to wonder if it was all worth it. The BBC producers are paranoid of looking like they're promoting a commercial cause. There are all these rules and regulations to follow. But for Alesha it felt like a slap in the face."
Frankly, I'm glad they haven't let Alesha sing. I think it's really cheap for one of the presenters to get up and promote themselves in that way. It's vulgar. If she must, let her dance like Darcey did, but no singing.
The source also said: "Unless she's given cast iron guarantees for 2010 it's highly unlikely she'll sign up for another series. Strictly was never meant as a long-term deal for Alesha. It's been a tough year but she feels she's done a good job and can walk away with her head held high."
Let her go, then. She has to learn that Strictly is not all about her. She's had her turn.
