Frocks On The Box
The Daily Telegraph visited costume designers Chrisanne.
Joanne Irvine, head of design, explained how they handle the celebrities: “When the series begins, the contestants are all quite nervous about the costumes. They want to be covered up. But as the show progresses, they get more self-confident, they lose weight, and everything gets smaller... We do a lot of ego-stroking, make [the contestants] feel comfortable about their outfits."
She also explains how careful they have to be in the days before the announcements about the series are made: “Because we know in advance, we have to be quite tight-lipped about the designs. It’s always difficult before the show starts, and you know who the contestants are. They have codenames. Ann’s was Maidstone, and Pamela’s was Doctor.”
