Same-Sex Strictly?
Strictly could be lining up gay celebrities to dance with a professional of the same sex.
The Daily Star reports that Strictly producers are considering the move, which has already been implemented on the Israeli version of the programme.
A source told the paper: “I don’t think this is a question of if, it is when. We’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that the viewers will support it.”
Same-sex dancing is a growing scene, and I think it would be a great step forward, as long as the same-sex couples are treated in the same way as the mixed couples. However, will middle England be happy to see it as a part of Strictly? My cynical side thinks that the best we can hope for is a show on BBC Three (like Dancing On Wheels). I would hate for a same-sex couple to become a novelty act on the programme. They should be treated in the same way as everyone else.
