Peter's Pleased Wife

Peter Schmeichel's wife is over the moon that he's a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing. Bente Schmeichel has been trying to get her husband to salsa lessons for years.

"He has been training for four weeks and he's really put a lot into it, he just can't do things by halves. I just hope he isn't the first to be voted off."

Bente told the Manchester Evening News that Peter had been approached to do the show in previous years, and has finally agreed.

"I think he wanted to do it this year because it's given him an opportunity to get fit again after football. It's a great challenge for him."

Bente will be in the audience on Saturday to cheer him on.
