Doll Dance

Elaine C. Smith would like to do Strictly as a tribute to her father.

Elaine, who plays Mary Doll in comedy Rab C Nesbitt, lost her father last year. He was a keen dancer, and Elaine feels that taking part in Strictly would be a great way to honour his memory.

She told the Scottish edition of The Sun: “I’d like to do ballroom dancing. My father danced four nights a week and one of the things that kept him going in the hospice was watching Strictly. That would be the main reason for doing it — not because I think I’m Ginger Rogers.”

Sexy Party Time!

It's time for a "sexy party". The BBC have announced that Darcey Bussell is to replace Alesha on the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel.

Darcey is happy to be rejoining the panel: “I had such a lovely experience in 2009 when I was a guest judge, that coming on board now feels very natural. Strictly combines quality dance and great entertainment, which is such a positive for everybody involved. I am very excited and really looking forward to being part of the Strictly team.”

Many fans of the show will be disappointed that Karen Hardy was not selected, but Darcey is a much better choice than some of the other names that were thown into the pot. At least she knows a bit about dance, and can articulate herself well.

Craig Is Single

Craig Revel Horwood is a single man after breaking up with his partner Grant last October. Craig kept it under wraps until now, so that the couple could deal with it in private.

Craig told the Daily Mail: "We split in October but I have kept it quiet so we can get over it. It has been sad, but you have to move on. We just grew apart and things hadn’t been as easy as they were in the beginning for a long while. Our worlds are very different and we both knew it wasn’t working. We said it had to be over at the same time. In fact, he beat me to it by a millisecond!"
